  • Algorave
Algorave events feature some of the world's finest live-coding electronic music acts. There are no DJs, no Ableton – everything is coded live on stage, on the night, in front of the crowd.

2013 has seen the launch of a series of Algorave events throught the UK and Europe. From appearances at electronic music festivals to lively events in an ex-East German fishing vessel, the Algorave events have been growing in popularity and so needed a unique visual identity to continue to take them forward.

A combination of unique type and abstract forms allows the visual identity to reflect the originality of Algorave as being a platform for forward thinking music and technology. Event posters and an online presence further strengthen the new visual identity.

  • Photographs Of Nepal
Here is a small collection of photographs from my recent trip trekking in the Himalayan region of Nepal. These were taken using an everyday digital compact camera (Lumix TZ6) and then edited afterwards in Photoshop. I decided to produce them in black in white as, in my opinion, this adds a sense of mystery and atmosphere to these already stunning peaks. While most people who were out there trekking were praying for clear blue skys, I was secretly hoping for some cloud to be present inorder to make these majestic mountains seem even more special. These peaks and ranges are found in the Sagarmatha National Park on the way to Everest Base Camp.

  • The Small Apple
Here is a collection of images that I have taken (Lumix TZ6) and then later manipulated in photoshop CS5 by creating a tilt-shift photography effect. The photos were taken from the observeation deck of the Empire State Building in a very cold New York last year. I realise this has been done before (there's some good online tutorials on this floating around the net), but I thought I'd give it a go. I have to say that even the most familiar photos are turned into something new and cool with this effect. I'm noticing new things in each photo now I see them in a different light.

  • Travel Photography
Here is a selection of photography from some of my past travels. There's a selection from Egypt and Nepal, with one from Malaysia thrown in there for good measure. I tried to photograph scenes and objects that to me represent the country they're from. The street scenes from Egypt show the fast paced lifestyle of Egyptions, while the more calmer photographs from Nepal show the calming nature of Nepal as a country. These photographs were taken using a Lumix TZ6 camera and have been adjusted slightly in Photoshop afterwards.

  • The Varsity Oath
As the Varsity competition between the two Sheffield universities heats up for another year, a Varsity Oath has been put into place to embed a culture of respect, fair play and pride in the competitors and spectators who participate in Varsity 2013. A logo was designed to give the Oath a visual identity which would be used on all Varsity 2013 and Varsity Oath materials leading up to, and throughout the competition.

To help promote the Varsity Oath throughout the competition, an assortment of banners and posters were produced to be displayed at both universities, students’ unions and all sporting facilities. When directing the photo shoot for the Varsity Oath campaign, I wanted the photographs to capture the light-hearted, good-natured side of the usually serious Varsity players.

  • Varsity 2013
Varsity is the annual sporting competition between Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield. The competition sees both universities battle it out over 40 different sports at various locations and venues across the city of Sheffield.

The idea behind the 2013 campaign was to show off the wide range of sports that make up the competition in order to appeal to more than just football and rugby fans. We wanted all students to get involved with Varsity, no matter which sports or clubs they supported. When directing the photo shoot I wanted to capture the players with their ‘game faces’ ready for action to really get across the sense of the competition between the rival universities.
