Politics Review

Politics Review is an annual publication designed to celebrate and showcase the political essays of undergraduate students from Sheffield Hallam University’s department of Psychology, Sociology and Politics.
Commissioned by the University for the ninth year in a row, the brief called for a visually engaging publication that would elevate student’s academic work, while remaining accessible to a broad audience.
The design challenge was to balance the integrity of academic writing with the visual appeal of a contemporary publication. A clean, structured editorial layout tailored to long-form content was developed, ensuring readability and engagement across both print and digital formats.

To enrich the essays and reflect their individual themes, a series of bespoke digital illustrations were created – each piece in close response to the subject matter – adding depth and visual narrative throughout the publication.

The final result was a professionally printed and digitally distributed publication that showcased the quality and diversity of political thinking at Sheffield Hallam University.

The project highlights the power of design in reimagining how academic work can be shared, understood, and celebrated.
